Sally Field seen for the first time since Dolly Parton’s death after sharing emotional tribute

Sally Field has been photographed for the first time since the death of her Steel Magnolias co-star Dolly Parton.

The 79-year-old actress arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday accompanied by a relative and her small black dog.

Field kept her airport outfit relaxed, wearing wide-leg light-wash jeans with a blue button-up shirt and black blazer. She completed the look with white sneakers featuring pink soles and an LA Dodgers baseball cap.

Her graying dark hair fell beneath the cap, while square-framed eyeglasses completed her appearance.

The outing came only days after Field shared a deeply personal tribute to Parton, describing the country music legend as an angel and saying she had adored her “with all my heart.”

Sally Field remembers her beloved co-star

Following news of Parton’s death, Field posted an image of the Steel Magnolias cast on Instagram.

“If there are truly angels on earth, then we have just lost one,” she wrote.

Field continued by reflecting on the close affection she felt for her former co-star.

“Dolly Parton. There will never be another. I adored her with all my heart and will always cherish our time together. Forever. Rest in peace beautiful Dolly.”

Field’s message offered a rare personal glimpse into the bond the two actresses formed while working together on the celebrated late-1980s film.

Steel Magnolias follows a group of Southern women who support one another through personal hardships and major changes in their lives.

Field was not the only cast member to publicly remember Parton. Shirley MacLaine, now 92, also issued a brief statement to People following the singer’s death.

“God sent her to us, and she has returned home,” MacLaine said.

Dolly Parton’s death announced by her nephew

Parton died Tuesday at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer. Her nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, confirmed the news through an Instagram video.

According to TMZ, Parton had been admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on August 21 with autoimmune and kidney problems.

Seaver explained that Parton had personally asked him years earlier to deliver the announcement when the time came.

“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” he said.

He said his aunt had “lived in the light” and was now “in the arms of Jesus.” Seaver also spoke of her being reunited with her late husband, Carl Dean, her parents and others who had died before her.

The announcement came just four days after Parton told People that she still had “so many things I want to achieve.”

Among the projects she discussed were plans for a new hotel and museum in Nashville.

A lasting tribute could welcome visitors to Tennessee

Parton’s name could eventually become part of one of Tennessee’s most prominent gateways.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport are considering renaming the airport in her honor. Lee said he had already spoken with Parton’s representatives about the proposal.

According to Page Six, her team expressed appreciation for the gesture and indicated that it was open to the idea.

“Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life is forever woven into the fabric of our state,” Lee said in a statement.

The governor noted that Parton’s journey carried her from a rural mountain home in East Tennessee to stages around the world.

“At a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favorite daughter and greet travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness,” he added.

As officials consider a permanent public tribute, Field’s emotional farewell has highlighted the personal impact Parton made on those who worked alongside her.
