Fox News host Jessica Tarlov takes break from The Five following intense backlash and reveals where she went

Jessica Tarlov has stepped away from her hosting duties on The Five for a tropical getaway with her husband, Brian McKenna.

The 42-year-old Democratic strategist shared several vacation photos on Instagram, giving followers a look at how she was spending her time away from the Fox News program.

Tarlov revealed that she and McKenna traveled to Lanai, Hawaii, where they attended a friend’s wedding and enjoyed time together away from television.

Her break came after a tense on-air exchange with fellow The Five host Greg Gutfeld and criticism from some viewers over her opinions about the Trump administration. However, Tarlov did not connect her vacation to either the disagreement or the backlash.

Tarlov appeared far removed from her usual studio surroundings as she posed with McKenna against a tropical backdrop.

In the main photograph, she wore a green-and-white striped midi dress featuring a banana-leaf pattern. She completed the look with peach-colored studded sandals and her familiar black, wide-brimmed glasses.

Her brown bob was swept to one side as she smiled beside her husband. McKenna wore a white-and-blue pinstriped button-up shirt with white trousers and beige slip-on shoes.

Another selfie showed the couple striking a playful pose. Tarlov wore a white-and-green beach outfit with green sunglasses, while McKenna appeared in a yellow slogan T-shirt and held a cup decorated with a cartoon bear.

The Fox News host changed her style again for another photograph, wearing a white-and-black ombre jumpsuit with a blue gummy bear clutch. McKenna coordinated with her monochrome appearance in a navy-and-white striped T-shirt, navy blazer, cream pants and brown suede loafers.

The final video showed Tarlov and McKenna swimming beneath a waterfall during their Hawaiian escape.

“Quick getaway to the most beautiful place on earth with my favorite guy,” she wrote in the Instagram caption.

A rare look at Tarlov’s marriage

Tarlov and McKenna married in May 2021. McKenna works as a hedge fund executive and generally remains outside the television spotlight occupied by his wife.

The vacation post offered a personal glimpse of their relationship as they relaxed, posed together and explored the setting in Lanai.

Followers responded warmly to the photographs. One commenter described them as a “gorgeous couple,” while another called Tarlov an “absolute legend.”

The vacation arrived after Tarlov and Gutfeld clashed during an intense debate on The Five, with Gutfeld visibly rolling his eyes during the exchange.

Tarlov regularly represents a liberal viewpoint on the Fox News panel, placing her in frequent disagreement with her fellow hosts.

Some viewers recently threatened to stop watching whenever Tarlov appeared on the program because of her outspoken views concerning the Trump administration.

The criticism did not prevent her vacation post from attracting supportive responses from followers who focused on the couple and their Hawaiian surroundings.

Tarlov did not indicate in the post that the on-air confrontation or viewer reaction prompted her time away. Her caption presented the trip as a brief getaway with her husband while they were in Lanai for a friend’s wedding.

The pictures showed a noticeably different side of the political strategist, replacing the formal setting and intense debates of The Five with colorful vacation outfits, tropical scenery and quiet time with McKenna.

For Tarlov, the temporary pause from Fox News meant exchanging the debate table for a Hawaiian island and sharing the trip with the person she called her “favorite guy.”
