This Woman Gave Birth To Her Baby Five Weeks Early – Then Realized Her Mom Had Been Right All Along

When one woman fell pregnant with her second child, her mother had a mysterious prediction about the birth. At first, no one took her prophecy seriously, but when the baby arrived five weeks early, his family were forced to take heed.

Clara Gregory originally hails from South Carolina. However, she later moved to New Jersey to start a new life. It was there that she welcomed her daughter, Teresa, at Saint Francis Medical Center in the city of Trenton. When Gregory was pregnant, her doctors told her that Teresa was due on Thanksgiving.

“My doctor kept saying that it was good the baby was going to be born on Thanksgiving,” she told NJ.com in November 2017. “I wouldn’t need to do any cooking.”

However, while the thought of a chilled-out Thanksgiving no doubt appealed to Gregory, she wasn’t buying her doctor’s estimations. She had her own idea about when her daughter would arrive, and it just so happened to be a date very close to her heart.

“I just had this feeling she was going to come on my birthday,” Gregory revealed.

The expectant mom was born on November 19th, so for her daughter to arrive on the same day, she’d have to be born slightly early—and sure enough, she was.

Remarkably, Gregory’s hunch paid off. Teresa arrived on November 19, 1986. This of course meant that she would share a birthday with her mother for the rest of her life. It was a coincidence that, over the years, would grow to mean a great deal to the family.

Teresa grew up and eventually met her husband, Anthony Dunn. In 2015, the couple started their own family, welcoming a son named Mason into the fold. Then, at the beginning of 2017, Teresa Dunn discovered she was pregnant once more. Doctors said that the baby, another boy, was due on Christmas Day. Therefore, he could have been the best Christmas present his parents had ever wished for.

Yet, once again, Gregory’s instincts kicked in.

“I don’t know why, but I kept saying to my daughter that the baby was going to come on our birthday,” Gregory revealed.

However, as before, for that to happen, the baby would have to be early. In fact, this time he would need to arrive over a month ahead of schedule. At the start of the pregnancy, it seemed unlikely that Dunn would deliver so prematurely, but doctors later diagnosed her with preeclampsia. The condition causes high blood pressure during pregnancy; as a result, doctors sometimes induce women with the condition early just to be safe.

As the months passed, Dunn’s condition worsened. Eventually, doctors classified her pregnancy as high-risk. All of a sudden, it was looking more and more likely that she’d have to give birth well before her December 25th due date. Of course, none of this came as a surprise to Gregory, who remained completely confident about her prediction.

“When my condition started getting worse, my mom was like, ‘I think he’s going to be born on your birthday,'” Dunn told Inside Edition in November 2017.

At 34 weeks into her pregnancy, doctors brought Dunn into the hospital for monitoring. She arrived on November 16th, three days before her birthday, and after a few hours, her medical team decided to induce her labor. Once and for all, Gregory’s dream of sharing her birthday with both her daughter and grandchild looked lost. Dunn assumed that her labor would progress normally and that she’d welcome her child within 24 hours.

Fate, however, had other ideas. Dunn’s grueling labor spanned three whole days. When her baby did not arrive on November 16th, 17th, or 18th, she finally began to believe that her mom’s prediction could come true after all.

“My husband kept saying, ‘He’s going to be born on your birthday,'” she told NJ.com. “And I finally came to the realization Saturday night that he really could be born on our birthday.”

In the end, Dunn gave birth to her son, Micah, via an emergency C-section. He arrived in the world on November 19th, just like his mom and grandmother before him. Now, three generations of the same family shared the exact same birthday. Grandma Gregory couldn’t have been happier that her hunch had proven right.

“It hit me that my mom was right,” Dunn told Inside Edition. “I thought she was going to be surprised, but she just kept saying, ‘I told you!'”

While Gregory remained quite nonchalant about the generational coincidence, Dunn was truly stunned.

“We always joked for many years before I got pregnant, and my mom said, ‘If you have a child, it will be born on your birthday,'” she recalled.

Little Micah weighed just four pounds, two ounces at birth. Despite arriving five weeks early, he was remarkably healthy. According to his proud mom, he was doing amazing.

Given that he was a newborn, Micah was far too young to celebrate his mom’s 31st birthday and his grandmother’s 67th on the day he made his entrance. Still, there will undoubtedly be plenty of joint celebrations in the years ahead.

“We’ll obviously cherish this for the rest of our lives,” Gregory admitted.
