No one heard the dog’s cry for 20 days until the door burst open.
When the rent was due, the landlord realized the tenant had disappeared. The tenant’s cell phone could not be reached; he was missing. The homeowner called the authorities and us for help. The house smelled so bad, we were shocked when we saw the dog. The dog was chained up without food or water. But there was very little waste on the ground, perhaps the dog ate it to survive.
“How did the dog survive those 20 days?” the landlord wondered.
The dog was so weak that she could not stand up. Her leg muscles had atrophied from long-term starvation. The dog’s face was filled with despair. We bought everything the dog needed. When I got home, I prepared food for her. After a while of rest, she felt better. But she still couldn’t stand up to eat. I had to spoon-feed her. While she ate, I tried to comfort and encourage her.
After many hours, she was able to lift her head. Day 5, the fatigue on her face was gone. She got up and walked normally. Every day looking at her skinny body, I feel heartache. Although her body was still very weak, her ribs were still visible. But she ate very well. She always eats a full bowl. After dinner, we let her play in the living room. Her eyes lit up, no longer lost as before. Feeling the family atmosphere for the first time made her very happy.
Day 8, I often cook for her in the kitchen. I go to the market and choose fresh and nutritious ingredients. I wanted to help her recover quickly after many days of exhaustion. Every dish was made simply. I still had to help her up. She wagged her tail with delight and enjoyed the food. She ate so fast that I was afraid she would choke. After finishing the bowl of boiled chicken, she refused to eat the porridge. I mixed in the medicine the doctor prescribed for her. It seemed this smart girl had noticed something unusual in it. She kept circling around as if to say, “No.”
Despite our best persuasion, she still refused to eat. She just drank more water. We also bought a lot of new toys for her, so she didn’t get bored just staying at home.
Day 12, we still had not received the investigation results. Authorities have yet to be able to contact the dog’s owner. Hopefully, nothing bad happens. The dog’s transformation was dramatic. Her steps became more graceful. She walked around for about 10 minutes. This is a big step for her. Some days I take her up and down the stairs. She was fully nourished with every meal. But we couldn’t forget the task of training her. Her muscles will gradually develop as she works out hard. She looked like she was tired.
After resting for a while, she continued practicing. This seems to have become her daily routine. The most important thing was that she didn’t need someone to lead her. Her efforts and determination really made me admire her. After 2 months, she became more and more beautiful. She was no longer so thin and weak that she could not stand. Her face was filled with joy and vitality. She enjoys life, taking in every moment that passes. She gradually recovered and little by little regained her confidence. That made us very emotional. We never expected that we would get through it all with her.
“Is this a miracle?”
Not only was her life saved, she got a second chance at life. She is happy to have a family. Her house is always filled with laughter. She received all the love of everyone. Hope good things will always come to her.
